While that may generally be true, I've found the tuners on the Orion and
Orion II to be able to match a significantly wider impedance range than
other built-in tuners that I've used. Those others were motor driven LC
arrangements, while the LDG-built and TT-built tuners in the Orions use the
switched L design. I'm very pleased with mine, and use it frequently
because it's a lot more convenient than dialing in my 238-B. Of course,
once the Alpha gets turned on, it all goes to the 238B.

I have a tuner in my Elecraft K1 and KX1 but have an outboard tuner for my
TenTec Triton IV and Icome 706. Usually the inboard tuners are not as good
as an outboard tuner.... Incidently I do have a outboard tuner for QRP
radios that Elecraft sells. It is good for up to 20 watts and works very
good.
