Hey Grnt,
I would be more than happy to send both radios to you!

I am not suggesting that either radio can create something from nothing.
What I am stating as "fact" is that both my other radios have the ability to
not inject raspy noise on top of original signal...which in turn allow me to
appreciate the better s/n ratio. The Orion can't deliver that due to the
noise it injects with the signal. There is a threshold somewhere where this
introduced distortion diminishes.

I have done several a/b/c with the same signal/antenna and find the NR on
the Orion II worthless for cw work with signals at or slightly above the
noise floor.
