Hi Clark,
I have VERY LIMITED experience with the SPS-75. I just put it in
service with my Herc II New Years day. So far no issue with switching
noise BUT I have not tried it on all bands and in various parts of the
bands. I have been on 80/75, both ends of the band and 40 CW end
with no problems. the local power company is supposed to be
working on some line noise problems for me and after that is
complete, it will be interesting to see how quiet the supply is. Spo far
so good. I did ask about returning the unit if it made unacceptable
noise and was told I could do so.
The 75 amp limit is right on the edge. I can get full power on most
bands (into a dummy load meaning ideal match) but on a couple
bands I only get around 500 watts or so. Don't recall which bands at
the moment. I don't think this will be an issue but if it becomes one, I
will just parallel my 10 amp Astron through a low voltage drop power
diode. that should work OK as it seems the SPS-75 reduces voltage
gradually at it's current limit rather than folding back.
Probably not much help.
