Hi all, Being a new O II owner, I've been following the nits & picks from
others and am constantly reminded of the Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge, testosterone
overloaded ego syndrome, or T.O.E.S. Don't step on my T.O.E.S...hi hi...:)

The O II is by far the BEST rig I've ever owned. I am not a contester, nor do I
have my masters in EE, but common sense tells me that an $11,000.00 rig is
going to do some things better than a $4200.00 rig. It's always a function of
money.

The universal question that should always be asked is... Does the extra
$6800.00 for the IC-7800 buy you a true $6800.00 in performance difference?
IMHO it does not. Most of the differences between the two rigs amount to about
as much difference in performance as you would see between an IC756ProII and a
ProIII, (ie, not much.)

I had to stretch to afford the O II, and there's no way I'd ever spend $10,000+
on a radio. But if I did, it had better do everything PERFECTLY! No background
noise whatsoever, dsp that is absolutely 100% distortion free, and a receiver
that would allow me to pick up a 100 milliwatt signal from the surface of
Pluto.

I think as far as "Bang for the Buck" is concerned, it will be awhile before
something is truly in contention with the Orion II. 73, Todd - KT0DD
