And furthermore, it would be different for every difference impedance headset. The only way Ten-Tec could make this work to everybody's satisfaction would be to have two separate audio power amplifiers, one for speaker and one for headphones, with separately adjustable soft pots for each. Or a logic input from auxiliary switch contacts on the head phone jack could make the control system switch between two audio gain settings.

At my station, which does not include an Orion, I run the external speaker output to a passive distribution system, which allows multiple headphones and a speaker to be plugged in. Each has it's own volume control. I prefer this because I like the speaker to continue to work when the headphones are plugged in. I take it with me to field day, and it make for a much more interesting station for spectators. The operator(s) need headphones, and if they were plugged into the headphone jack, spectators would hear none of the excitement on the band.

Is there any way I can rectify the side tone level from the speaker to head phones. When I am on head phones it is comfortable at 77 and when on speaker it is comfortable at 18???? I would think there should be a balance one could make to rectify this large disparity in level?

Frankly, I would rather Ten-Tec spend time fixing something that's *really* annoying rather than something that is easily solved by a one second twist of a knob!
