I read the product review with mixed understanding in the September 06
issue of QST. Not unfavorable or favorable either; but leaning towards the ham
that likes SDR.
Seems like a lot of the comments voiced on the reflector or newsgroup were
basically voiced in the product review. QST reiterates that "Ten-Tec
also has not addressed all of the original Orions's shortcoming in this
iteration." - page 59 of September 2006 QST.
Read the entire review and come to your own conclusion.
Fortunate for me, I can compare a ICOM 756 PRO II to the Orion II. I
like both transceivers.
I can say with all the gripes mentioned in the article I would still
buy the Orion II again and hope some of the issues can be resolved in
the future.
