You CAN use a demodulator for RTTY if you want to run FSK, but AFSK RTTY
with the sound card and a software program like MMTTY will work very well
for almost all your RTTY needs.  No hardware required.

Greg, PSK is done with a sound card and software program.  You only need an 
audio in and out of the transceiver.  The Orion II has programmable line 
level (and isolated) audio in and out ports on the back panel.

The other modes such as RTTY are usually done with a TNC, such as the 
Kantronics, AEA, or MFJ types.

There are other digital modes done only with sound card and software.  Use 
the keyword of the mode you are interested in, to Google for additional 
information; or visit the Technical Information Service articles of ARRL at 
www.arrl.org

The Orion II has a DB9 connector for its RS 232 interface.  I think they 
have some on line information at the Ten Tec web pages as well.
