Ralph, it's Dan/N4VET.
If they have run out there is a guy on you know where that has them for
Heath and Collins he may have them for TT.
You will have to look for him under Collins.
Also, just a thought.
I have restored old sets by taking the knob off and with a flat iron tip go
from behind the knob and place the tip of the iron on the back of the insert
and with care apply just enough heat to soften the glue and take the old
insert off by pushing the old insert out from behind at the same time.
Then find a knob that does not match but has an insert that does.
Remove it from the new knob the same way and place it in the TT knob with
some glue.
You can still find knobs at radio shack or at HAM flea markets.
Just make sure that the center insert is the same size.
If what you say about TT is right I would reinforce the bandswitch knob by
placing JB Weld in the space between the outer part of the knob and the inner
part of the knob.
Fill the space up with the JB Weld all the way around and let it dry for 2
or 3 days.
Make sure you leave the set screw hole clear of any JB Weld.
If you do not do this it will be no time at all before that bandswitch knob
will split on the inside and you won't be able to use it.
This was a design fault by TT because they did not use a metal sleeve on any
of the knobs they made.
The inner ring will crack by being set to tight or by stress of just
changing bands.
It will crack opposite the set screw.
The JB Weld will never let this happen and it repairs knobs that have
cracked already.
Good luck,
Dan/N4VET
