I did measure the Scout at 5 watts, turned down some years ago. There is quite a residual drain, but I am not sure you gain much in dropping out the amplifier board. My understanding, is that is all the Argo mod did. The driver transistor then is patched by the RG 174 coax jumpers to the LPF in the plug in module to become your final transistor.
