I used to run a Deep Cell marine battery in the car, because of the horrible
electrical system. I could run a 100 Watt HF rig and a 50 Watt mobile about a
month without recharging.

I just simply set it in the floor board behind the passenger seat and ran the
cables to it underneath the seat.

When it came time to recharge, I would grab the charger and plug it in, while
cracking the windows on the car, in the event any gasses should vent. I was a
lot younger then, and didn't have the resources to fix the electrical problems
in the car, but I could afford the $50 used (refurbished) battery.

I do something similar in the house now as well. I have a 50 amp power
supply with 2-96Ah batteries as backup.

  Just my .02c

  Folks,
I use a Scout mobile at half power with very good results. Still have
some noise though no matter what filtering I use. The Explorer is fairly
quiet though, but not perfectly quiet.
My question: Does anyone have any suggestions for a stand alone power
source for mobile folks running about 25 watts looking for a noise free
environment?
Thanks, Jim, K4CFA
