Steve:
I recently installed the OT-11 tuner in my Orion and had no trouble. The
installation is a cinch. One wire was soldered (I guess the 13 v.) and the
rest was one plug connection (for control, I guess) and two mini coax
connecters for the rf in and out of the tuner. The most time was taking off
all the Torx screws at the back. Total time about 1 hour.
Operation was immediate after firing up. The "socking" of relays at first made
me wonder, but they work fast. Like they say, coming back to a previous
frequency, it only takes 1-2 seconds. One can request a complete new search
for a tune by multiple pushing of the TUNE button. The SWR bridge must be
different than Orion's, so you may see a bit different SWR after tuning
compared to the Orion when transmitting. This is my first autotuner. It
apparently cannot find the absolute min SWR like a manual one can. Sometimes
it will settle for a 1.5 or 1.6 SWR. But much of the time it will find a 1.0
SWR.
It works.
