What Bill says is VERY important relative to hardware updating. Bill can we assume if anyone buys an Orion I from Ten-Tec it will be the latest hardware? I would hope so, but would ask just the same. BTW, I know of another Orion that had warranty work done on the display, but this one has not had that problem. Don't really know what it was to cause the dark spot and why I didn't have the issue.

Love the rig... a keeper.

You are correct about the firmware, but I would
try to find a unit that has been factory updated
within the past year or so. I sent my unit in under
warranty in June 2005 and there were a number ofhardware updates done
in addition to the specific
problem I had. If you search the archives, I believe
someone posted a list of some of them.

I would also ask the owner to verify that
the display is not going dark in some areas.
That was the problem in my unit which caused me
to send it in under warranty.
