Don't think it's a problem,

Mark is when pin 7 goes to ground,

If you connect TX data to this, then it should be set to mark 'LOW'

if you run it through an inverted isolation buffer, like a 4N21, then the TX Data Low is high on the other side. TX High engages the LED in the 4N21 making the open collector go LOW...

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,

Subject: [TenTec] Orion FSK tone reversed?

I have recently set my Orion (565) up to operate FSK. (Yes I too now hate
soldering 7-pin DIN connectors!) My first QSO was successful but the
operator in the Ukraine suggested my tones were reversed. I checked the
software and the Orion OTHER menu and the Mark is set at the default Mark
Low. (If this refers to the frequency of the MARK tone itself, as described
on page 32 of the manual, it should be correct.)

I decided to review the reflector archives and K3NA noted the same problem
and he suggested the Orion configuration should be set to Mark High:

http://lists.contesting.com/archives//html/TenTec/2006-02/msg00330.html

I consequently set the FSK in the "Other" menu to FSK Tx Data - Mark HIGH.
Now my FSK signal is easily received. I have tried both Version 2 and
Version 1 firmware and the 'problem' is consistent in both versions.

This is a new mode for me and I may be out to lunch but I'm wondering if
others have noticed this problem when operating in FSK? Have Orion II users
noticed a similar problem? (I have notified ditsnbits suggesting that they
look into this and perhaps reconfigure the default settings accordingly.)
