I think the only way to buy equipment with a protected investment is to buy
10+ year old equipment as the market price has been established and doesn't
fluctuate much. I remember buying my first 'big rig', a 10 year old 940 and
kept it 2 years. When I sold it, I think I got within 25 bucks of what I
paid for it.

The price will be a function of the supply vs. demand law of economics.
Once the Orion II is released, there will be a number of folks that will
release their Orion to the market. One may see a temporary sag in the
price. I would imaging those that want and Orion will then soak up the
market and the price will rise a bit.
Not to fret, no one will get killed on the value of the Orion. Oh, don't
expect to get your "new price or price paid for it. After all, it's used and
we all know used merchandise, regardless of condition will bring a bit less
than the original purchase price. If you don't believe this, buy a new car,
drive it off of the lot and around the block and then back to the dealer and
see just what they will pay you for it.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
