You may be right. My memory of that specific aspect of the rig is
vague. It was 5 yrs ago that I last used it. The audio-derived AGC was
one of the things I didn't like about the Omni D. I learned to live
with it by turning the RF gain down (imagine, that knob actually turns
:-) and it was fine.
Hmmm, maybe I should sell the 830s and buy a Corsair II to plop next to
the Omni V so I could get a better read on the relative merits of each?

I believe the Corsair's AGC is i.f.-derived, but i don't have the
schematic in front of me right now to check.
