Ralph,
the fact it is discontinued must tell you that most hams prefer a rig with a
box and knobs they can twist with the hands.

There are some trade offs in sensitivity, aging issues of computer noise--- 
problems may come up in level, etc.

It depends on what kind of operating you prefer, and how long a period at a
time.   Looking at a CRT all day can be tiring, as can using a mouse for
many of us.
