This may be something of an urban legend.  There was a lot of discussion on
this list around the time that Doug left T-T and went to Collins.  As I
recall the nut of it  ---  Doug was responsible for the DSP architecture and
implementation of those portions of the radio,and maybe some other stuff.
But there's a lot more to the radio that was not done by Doug, and in
particular the control functions (what most people loosly mean with the term
"firmware" re the Orion) which is where almost all of the issues have been.
