Simmer down dude.
When I had the IC-756pro2, I called Icom several times and they were very responsive to my questions. After a lightning hit, I had to ship it in for repairs. It was 3 weeks out of warranty. They honored the warranty anyway and had it back to me in just over 2 weeks. That was less than a year ago. I couldn't ask for better service. Perhaps they have improved to compete with someone?

*BUT YOU DON'T HAVE THE RECEIVER THAT YOU HAVE WITH THE ORION, MY IC 775
DSP WILL NOT OUT HEAR WHAT MY ORION WILL*. *TRY CALLING ICOM AND GETTING
SOMEONE TO TELL YOU HOW TO FIX SOMETHING THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MESS UP
WILL IT IS UNDER WARRANTY OR ANY OTHER TIME, THEY WANT YOU TO SEND IT
BACK FOR REPAIRS ( 2 TO 3 MONTHS BEFORE YOU GET IT BACK)*

There is a critical gain setting that sets the point where distortion and
popping will occur. The setting is done at the factory but can be done by
you if you are careful and get the instructions from Paul. Simplest is to
either turn off the preamp or add attenuation to keep the signals below 35
over 9. My Orion is adjusted so I don't get the popping or distortion until
55 over 9.
