With Kenwood transceivers I always used one of their speakers with
passive Hi/Low cut circuits and often an audio filters as well--from
the old Bencher XZ-2, to a Datong FL-2 (?) and a Timewave 59+. All
did the job but with the Orion, I don't need any of them. When using
a 60 ohm set of cans, I hear no hiss when connected directly to the
headphone output. If I tried that with my TS-850S, the continual
hiss would drive me crazy.
