According to the write-up in QST, November, 1997, Option 1 was a  kit that 
you got in the mail that adds DSP noise reduction, moves the DSP  low-pass 
filter to the front panel, upgrades the menu and adds a new tuning  feature.  
$75.00.  I think TT still has the kit  available.
