Glad you're on the mend.
Since your other computer has such a large hard drive, I'm assuming it's of
fairly recent vintage and thus of pretty decent processor horsepower. What
do you want to do with the computer and the Argonaut V? Most of the uses I
can think of rig control or logging software or digital mode operation can
probably be done with your existing computer assuming it is not too busy
doing other things at the same time. Probably the most limiting resource
will be serial ports - in the worst case, I can see that you would need 3
1) Argonaut V control / logging
2) Digital mod PTT control (with suitable software there are ways around
this one)
3) Rotator control
Serial ports can be a scarce commodity. I have tried a couple of USB /
Serial port adapters and found that they will work for some things and not
others, and not necessarily the same things with different adapters. I have
had pretty good luck using them for PTT control.
