Chuck has the most probable answer. I used to work for a company that made
electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps. The higher frequency of the
electronic ballast (25 KHz instead of 60 Hz) made the lamp emit IR at the
frequency used by TV remotes. The IR from the lamps completely blocked the
IR sensor in the TV or other appliance. Discovered this when our customer
installed new "updated energy efficient" electronic ballasts in the
executive offices of NBC. When the execs came in the next day they lost
remote control of the bank of TV sets. ----- Yet another adventure in the
use of new products.
Look for a source of light - sun, etc - that is shining on the IR sensors.
Do not believe it is the RF.
