[TenTec] OmniVI+ question/problem

I have a friends  OmniVI+. There seems to be on any band a constant low
level tone that will come and go when I rotate the passband tuning. Of
course with no antenna it's more noticeable. I hadn't noticed that in other
OmniVI+s. Is this alignment or a problem. Comments please.
