I had a PC-9000 (later model) that really wasn't ready
for prime time either. Horrible receiver on 6m,
birdies all over the place, noisy tuning, but... some
neat concepts that were well executed and a very
sensitive receiver.
I think the PC-500 was the first time Patcomm got it
right.

Their old address was in St. James.

Yes, though I suspect it may have been back into the
owner's garage. I know they still have at least a
couple of people. The company is clearly on life
support despite many denials. They are still doing
service and still selling some product, though, but
customer service is somewhere between erratic and
horrible.
It's a pity. Everyone I know who has a PC-500 loves
that little radio. The PC-9000 had a lot of potential
but was poorly executed.
