Thanks to all respondents.

I'm certainly not seeking "high fidelity" from the OMNI in SSB. Far from it. Just tweaking the audio, which I find competent on SSB but not praiseworthy. Excellent on CW, though :-)

Some years ago I had a nice talk with Billy Goodman, an Australian, formerly a jazz pianist, who now runs the ATC speaker company in England, about the subject of accurate musical reproduction. His products, which are expensive, aim at reducing distortion so what the buyer mainly is left to deal with is the problem of room acoustics. (We were talking classical music and jazz.) I can testify that L. Pavarotti (when he had a voice) could mesmerize a Met audience with his sweet lyric tenor. All he had to do was stand there and sing. His CDs to my mind convey only an approximation. But I digress.

John, W3ULS
