Steve,
The problem is, if you place a smaller roofing filter in the Orion's second
receiver's front end, you won't be able to use the AM and FM modes. If you
want to kill those two modes, then you don't need a general coverage RX.
Or, stated otherwise, if you want the benefit of a general coverage RX, you
don't want to kill AM and FM.
The FT-1000 also only uses the Inrad on one of its receivers. The second
receiver remains as bad as before, but can still be used for AM and FM.
The Orion's main RX is still better than the FT-1000 with the Inrad.
Keep us posted on your VI with the new Inrad.

This may be another opportunity for INRAD. I think their roofing filter
for the MP is 75mhz. I ordered one for my Omni VI and it should arrive
any day. They are expensive but according to initial test, this will
place the VI at the top of the IMD chart.
