[TenTec] Triton IV External Keying Questions

I have a few questions, regarding keying in the Triton IV.  Specifically, is 
the EXT T/R connector closed, before, or after there is RF present at the 
output jack?  I'm working on external keying for a homebrew amplifier.

Any information you could provide  would be appreciated, as well as any off 
list comments.
