gary greene was a big help as i replaced the output devices in my hercules II.
I certainly hope that he retired, as he was a compendium of Herc knowledge,,,
maybe he'll check in here and advise us he is still there...or perhaps
enjopying retirement.

Ten Tec has been selling Centurions for a long time and probably sold a

I have been very happy with mine. It was originally sold in June 1995 to
K7TS who, as I recall, replaced it with a Titan. I bought it from him in 1997.
A TT tech, Gary Greene, suggested to me in 1997 a mod for it to correct a
design defect in early Centurions. I replaced the power supply resistors,
those in parallel with the filter capacitors, with some of a higher
voltage rating. He sent me the resistors free of charge. I don't recall
having arcing with this amp, but that may be the source of the arcing
problem reported in the QST review.
As far as I know, Gary Greene is no longer with Ten Tec.
I'll bet someone on the reflector has both amps and can give a good
comparison.

One thing > that continues to pop out at me is the number of Centurians
for sale used - always wonder why - surely 1000 vs 1500 watts
is not the issue.
In a different message:
I was somewhat concerned about the QST review that said they had arcing -
that was about 1992 - so I would assume by now if that was an issue Tentec
would have it resolved. (I tried to get some info from ARRL/ the guy who
did the review but so far no answer..
