I have a Corsair Mark 1 on my desk right now. I'm listening to a radio net
involving amateurs around VK2. The nominal frequency is 3.6 MHz... but my
dial is going crazy. It says anything from 1.0 through to 4.6 Mhz ... and is
continually changing.
The receiver is steady on frequency ... and I am therefore assuming that my
VFO is stable. Earlier this evening I had a brief contact on 40 metres with
no difficulty. If the radio's frequency bobbed about like the dial frequency
... there'd be no prospect of having a QSO.
In these old rigs ... I believe that the digital display is in reality a
frequency counter which blends the VFO output with other circuits to give the
'true' frequency ... which arrangement differs with each band.
Is this a common problem with the Corsair? It really is a fine radio ...
except for this bug.
