Ed,
I made up a simple Y cable that allows me to use the encoder and the serial
port at the same time. The encoder uses completely different pins than the
RS-232 interface. My Y cable has a 25 pin connector for the radio, a 9 pin
connector for the computer and a connector for the encoder.
