I'm confused. I do not understand the concerns being raised.
These filters are ROOFING filters. 99.94% of the time, it is not
going to matter a whit that you have your SSB bandwidth set to 1.8
Khz, but the roofing filter is still at 2.4 Khz.
I think the concerns in this regard are unfounded. As for running
SSB at 2-3 Khz with a 1.8 Khz roofing filter inline -- that just doesn't
make any sense to me at all. It's like running a Countach with a
governor on the engine to keep your speed under 2000 rpm.
Remember that the 7800, for example, has NO roofing filter
narrower that 6 Khz, and most older rigs have a single filter fixed at
20 or 15 Khz.
Maybe T-T has just given us TOO much flexibility, and the potential
for TOO much performance, and it's making us worry about things
that are of little practical importance for fear we might get it wrong :-)
