Your comment is not always correct. Many modern high pressure diesel
injections systems are using high voltage solenoids to control the
injectors. These systems can have noise problems that are just as bad as
ignition systems. What you reported is always true with the old style
mechanical injectors.
Check for the injection type before you buy a diesel.

If you are serious about mobile operations, buy a car with a diesel

You won't have any problem with ignition noise.

Subject: RE: [TenTec]dreaming about a 100 w. mobile rig
My mobile HF operation (40m) is more limited by power line noise ruining
my
reception than by only developing 100 watts on transmit. A 100 w Ten Tec
with detachable control head, 500 Hz filter and Noise Blanker ( for
ignition
noise) might put another IC706 on the used market.
