Try using 8 bits, 2 stop bits, No parity. I know the bit count is wrong,
but that's how I got my Paragon II to work with WIN-EQF.

Subject: [TenTec] Paragon II Computer Interface Problems
I am trying to use the II's computer interface. I am having difficulty
with the responses to queried data, but not to receiving CDE (Matrix) data.
TRX-Manager indicates communication error using IC735 emulation and XMLog
complains
about missing EOMs for IC735 and Paragon II modes. TRX-Manager works well
when
the II is put in CDE (Matrix Mode), but does not succeed when it asks for
replies
except for operations setting the transceiver.
The information returned seems to be correct, but possibly in the wrong
format
(at least according to my Paragon II's manual) One Debug program that I have
used shows an additional byte in the mode/filter response and in the
frequency response.
I don't have the source for the debugger, so it may be manipulating the data
before
presentation.
The manual I have indicates that byte 5 should be the first byte of the
response data.
But in the debugging printout, byte 5 appears to be the command sent to the
transceiver,
i.e. 03H for query frequency and 04H for get mode. In addition, the get
frequency seems
to have an extra byte in the frequency after the MHz byte and just before
the FDH byte.
Can those with a manual verify how many data bytes should be received for 03
and 04
queries? Could be I have an early version of the manual or the controller
code. Is
there a version number on your receiver ROM?
Thanks,
Ed, N5EI
