The Herc ran on 48 volts DC and used a ratchet rotary switch to change
bands.
Herc II runs on 12 vdc and uses relays to change bands. Both had factory
power supplies but obviously you could run the Herc II on an 80 amp 12 vdc
supply while on the old Herc you were confined to the factory 48v supply.
The fan on the Herc sounded like an F115 while the fan on the Herc II was
almost silent. HercII is very nice piece of gear.
