The intermittent DX on 20m around Central time midnite is experienced here. Probably decaying clouds of ionization. We see a progression of 20m contacts in the evening from the Western USA to HI, then to the islands of the Pacific, then New Zealand, followed by Australia, as the earth moves, to New Caledonia. Last year's USA Field Day, however, 20m did not exhibit this character, and went dead for 6 to 8 hours in the middle of the night. It will be interesting to see how it does this Field Day June 26-27. -Stuart K5KVH |
