One thing noticed in general. If one has several applications running,
problems may abound. These issues seem to less when running Windows XP or
XP Professional. Earlier versions of Windows may not be too happy under
these conditions. Norton AV and McAfee along with any standing firewall
with XP seem to run satisfactorily but not necessarily so when using Windows
98 or Windows ME.
Also I've noticed that often some of the programs (no specific ones noted)
do not totally release the comm ports when closed even though there is an
internal command to do so. To that end, a full re-boot is always suggested
to begin with a "clean start".
Just one of the software glitches from Microsoft that have been corrected in
later versions.
