Hi John, I have a Bencher and a Kent. I prefer the Kent. It is solidly built. It has small spiral springs. I must admit that I did not think it used magnets. Now that I look at it I see where there may be some magnets. It certainly does not have an objectionable sticky feel to it that some paddles using magnets may have. I would buy it again. Ken N6KB
