Richard and all,
Yes, BPL is a done deal because it can be and is being put into operation
under the present PART 15 RULES. It is these rules that they want to change.
It is the rule changes we are fighting, NOT BPL.
The large power companies who have a pile of stock holders to answer to are
the ones which may play with it but than give up when the return on the
investment is too low. The small, local power companies who need a new money
maker may be the ones to stick with BPL.
But again, it is the rule changes which favor BPL that we are fighting, BPL
is here to stay. Hopefully not forever though. Just wait until the first
user is fried because of a malfunction in the little black box.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply,
I agree that for now it is pretty much a done deal.
One point I want to say is that trying to focus on the 'technical' issues
is the wrong place in this environment. The Tech side is well stated, if
not looked at.
There is an econimic side, with possibility of 'scandal' written all over
it. If we were to exploit that to people like Kerry it could become an
election issue or at least a bruise to the president.
Can you imagine the media attention if millions of workers knew their
electric bill was going up because some president wanted broadband?

Richard,
I have never commented here on the TT Group but thought it was about time.
Gratefully, I have enjoyed many hours of good reading from all.
We all must understand when the Commander and Cheif want it... It will be
done.
This is a very determined to be sucessful fellow and has every intention
of making Mr. Powell a ISP hero. In addition, as we all know the Bush
Cheney Crew
are very much involved with the energy folks.. AKA as Haleberton.
GW is a pretty sharp chap and would think he would want to be aware of any
possible glitch in the Homeland Security Communications systems in
addition to NTSF issues. Maybe Mr. Ridge needs a talkin too as well, being
Homeland Security being a very big issue on the hill.
The best hope we have is the technical issues. As mentioned here on the
NG, the Washington folk do not have any technical backround. Somehow, we
all need to get the techinical issues to the White House so they are
presented properly insteed of be laid out by a bunch of lawyers who again
are not technically educated in addition to beating on our local Senate
and Congress folks doors.
Plus a few prayers...
Best 73/DX de Dave K4DLJ
