If you interrupt the keying loop by poping out the tx en/out jumper on the
rear panel you will be able to send cw with the sidetone and not transmit. it is easier if you have an amp and a switch box for the keying loop going to more than one rig--just switch the loop open. If you are not driving an amp you will have to reach behind the rig and pull out the two pin jumper that should have come with the rig so one pin isn't connected to anything.
