I just upgraded to a new high-performance Dell 4600C. Like most new PCs, it
has USB ports and NO RS-232 serial ports.
I have several Belkin F5U003 RS-232-to-USB converters, but they refuse to
work with the Pegasus. The Belkin went obsolete some time in 2000, and the
closest Belkin driver available for WIN XP is actually for WIN 2000. The
Belkin worked under XP on my old system with other applications (e.g.,
PSK-31 control)...but I never tried it previously with the Pegasus since I
had available RS-232 ports. I am now forced to use a USB converter.
Questions:
1) Is there anything in WIN XP I can try? I have already tried various com
port settings to no avail. I can see the Belkin activity light pulse as it
is trying to communicate with the Pegasus, so I know I have the right USB
com port and this matches the Device Manager in XP.
2) If I can't find a solution with the Belkin, does anyone know of a
RS-232-USB converter that actually works with WIN XP and the
Pegasus/Jupiter?
Thanks in advance!

I'm using two different styles of USB-to-RS-232 adapters from
Cables to Go (http://www.cablestogo.com) and both work fine with
my Orion, GPS frequency standard, and a variety of other things I've
tried them with. On Win XP.

Paul,
I believe the radio shack usb to serial converter part # 26-183 works fine
with XP. At least, that is what my users tell me.
