Does anyone have a stock or source for small amounts of 12 guage tinned solid
wire for "rolling your own" tank tuner coil OR does anyone have some spare 2.5
inch diameter, 6 turns per inch stock they would part with? I have a very
effective homebrew balanced tank tuner which uses 14ga by 41 strand SIS
switchboard wire over 2" PVC conduit form. The design was based on a tuner
appearing in the 1955 ARRL handbook. With ganged 500pF EFJ caps with isolated
stators and/or rotors, it orig tuned 80,40,30 with one coil very nicely. After
moving and putting up a CFD with a much shorter feedline, it now requires
changing the coil and link to go from 80 to 40M. A real pia. I would like to
make the coil from bare wire to make taps for jumpers rather than have to
change out the coil when changing bands.
Thanks,
Mike, AC5P
