I can't be sure of this because I have not looked at the schematic's of the
I/O connector yet. However I have spent some time, running barefoot, on 20m
PSK. Of course PSK only requires the audio out of the Orion and the audio in
from the PC and uses VOX. No problems encountered to date. With FSK I'm just
using a transistor switch to key PTT and FSK on the Orion and the MTTY
program. Still barefoot, I've not encountered any problems with this setup.
When I get back from fishing this week, I'm gonna crank the Titan 3 up to
max power out and see what happens. Just as a precaution, I did put ferrite
beads and RF bypass caps on the transistor switches.
I also use YPlog for sending CW via the sound card. Have a little bridge
detector circuit for converting sound to switch another transistor switch. I
normally run this both barefoot and with the Titan 3 running the full 1.5 KW
out, again with no problems at speeds from 18 wpm to 80 wpm.
This is speculation, but so far, experience has shown no need for isolation
of any kind.
