Ok, here we go with RX-340 S meter readings of the
noise levels, well after sunset on this rather remote
area of the Garden Island of Kauai. Why? To find
out whether the Orion is sensitive enough!

1. Anyway, the same frequency, 7.088 kHz is still
very open at 0530 UTC, or 7:30 PM HST. Noise
with no antenna sharing with the Orion, but directly
into the RX-340 antenna port. Same 3.4 kHz BW.

S meter reading, no signal present, -112 dBm.
Into the Bird dummy 50 ohm load, -130 dBm.

2. On 80 meters, with the doublet tuned up via the
kW Matchbox on that band:

S meter reading, no signal present, -106 dBm
Into Bird dummy load, -130 dBm

3. Now on 20 meters, if I can find a "quiet" frequency.

Frequency, 14.035 is signal free at 0550 UTC as heard
on the little C3 tribander. And the RX-340 S meter
reads a noise output power of -115 dBm.
On the Bird dummy load, -130 dBm, the evident
internal noise of the 340 rcvr.

All the above, still at 3.4 kHz BW, as earlier on 40 and
80. No other changes other than after dark now. Sunset
this evening here on Kauai was at 0443 UTC (6:43pm HST).

Trust these numbers can be of some use to you, Sinisa.
Want to be sure things are accurate here, hi.
Hope Carl can do some RX-340 noise measurements
at his remote QTH also.

Again, realize these are direct antenna via the tuner into
the RX-340; no power sharing with the Orion. So ought
to show the noise levels out here.
