Hi Carl:
Thanks for reconsidering the cause and effect of the erratic SWR readings.
Might I suggest some sort of short term averaging algorithm to help with the
problem? Perhaps SWR or reflected power readings need to be averaged for
over a period of 100ms or so, to more accurately reflect the actual SWR
situation. This should still allow the software time to respond to a
legitimately high SWR reading and fold the power back. It would seem to me
that high SWR would be caused by a chronic antenna matching problem or a
dramatic change in the antenna or feedline (ie: "broken"). Both would show
as high average SWR and thus fold the power back.
Regards
Dave
