Mark, you didn't mention what contest software you're
using.  If it's WriteLog or N1MM logger, why are you
running a separate PTT line?  

For N1MM Logger, check the "Radio PTT via command"
checkbox under set details for your port.

For Writelog, set Comm PTT to "Yes" under port setup.

This should do the job without the PTT line.
