You're not really missing something.

Hi cut just reduces bandwidth.  So in a sense it is redundant.

Low cut reduces bandwith AND adjusts PBT (as Carl pointed out) to 
effectively maintain the upper response edge in a contstant place.  This 
slides the lower edge (relative to mode) up to eliminate interference on 
the low side.  It is true that PBT can do the same thing, but that also 
slides the upper edge of the response curve which may increase  
interference from the other side in the bargain.

Different strokes ... but I feel certain that if this equivalent to VBT or Twin 
Passband Tuning or whatever control du jour is being pitched wasn't 
there, there would be someone who'd be asking where it was :-)
