I don't want to split hairs but by my reckoning a 100W, 9 band K2 with
SSB, NB and DSP is $1336. One of the key decision factors for the
typical K2 purchaser is most likely that he will get real enjoyment from
constructing the K2 from a kit. The fact is, there are so many folks
enjoying building the K2 that the market price for a fully built one is
the same as the price for the kit of parts. IMO the $20/hr you mention
is therefore entirely eroneous.
The K2 is a super radio IMO. I wouldn't like to say that it is better
or worse than an Orion though it is certainly different and a lot less
expensive!
