Many switching power supplies have RFI noise output issues, especially the
higher current ones. However, Astron is now producing a line of them that
"may" be quiet enough for use with a transceiver. However, if the switcher
has incidental radiation from its power leads, to a nearby station; it would
not be suited for a multistation DX pedition operation. Some users report
even "quiet" switchers are noisy at some frequency bands.
Some DX peditions arrange for local supply of batteries, and recharge them
during sleep times/ or times of no propagation.
