Bill,
I am using the HC-5 element with my ORION and it seems to work pretty
well. Audio reports are favorable from people that know my voice. Even
the HC-5 does not have a lot of bass response but you can adjust the
audio equalizer in the ORION to taylor the audio to your own voice and
preferences. Also, it is necessary to run the audio gain a bit higher
than most mics. Mine is set to a gain of between 60 and 70 for good ALC
action. I generally do not use the speech processor unless I'm trying
to break through a DX pile up. I have not tried an HC-4 yet.
