Crank the VOX gain to max, be sure the anti-VOX is off and set the DELAY to
min.  Adjust the sound card output until the unit keys reliably and then
adjust the transmit audio for something less than 50% max power or until the
ALC begins to activate and then back off a wee bit.

Forget the RTS/DTR mess.
